Crosshatch on Rezzable open sim.

A few months ago Rezzable commissioned me to build something for them.  What I decided to build was a little narrative I created a few years ago in pen and ink.  At the time I was asked to put work into a coffee table book and I decided that I loved pen and ink drawings.  Unfortunately I had not worked in that style before so decided to learn how to draw in ink with a nib.  Dip a metal pen into india ink and draw.  Very old fashioned but I love that stuff.  So I picked out my favorite pen and ink / etchers and began to study them.  One great resource was victorian fashion books.  So as it turned out, I also happened to discover Edward Gorey at the same time.  The narrative I created was directly influenced by Gorey.  He was fantastic and I have already made his Gashlycrumb Tinies series in prims which you can see the advert here
Anyway, so the build I did for Rezzable is a 3D recreation of my 2D pen and ink drawings.  I will put the drawing I did which corresponded to the machinima above, here so you can see what i mean.  Each 3D build only comes together from certain camera angles, otherwise they are just a bundle of weird prims.

Strangely, there were some writers who suggested that I was leaving Second Life to go to Open Sim. Next time please just ask me, I think that I am fairly approachable.  The conversation would have gone very much like this.  Writer: "are you leaving Second Life to go to Open Sim?" Bryn Oh: "no".

The main reason I am posting this right now is that the show might be ending soon.  I have hand placed over 10, 000 prims but unfortunately I don't have a copy of the build.  I attempted to go into their grid with Imprudence viewer to copy it but the result is that I can no longer get in at all.  I was also to get a builder bot to copy it, but unfortunately it is broken.  I have tried to get help from Rezzables Foolish Frost but he is unresponsive, so long story short the build is likely gone once the island is closed down again.

If you think you would like to go see it then you will have to go to Rezzable website here and make an account and then go visit by clicking on the red  "private grid" button to the left.  Oh and there is a sky setting of course.  Its at the front where you arrive.  Anyway, hope you enjoy the build should you make it over there.

Freaking Cool! I saw glimpses of this earlier. Thought it was "just a bundle of weird prims" like you said. Interesting enough from an abstract perspective, but seemingly not done in the signature narrative art style of B Oh, but when the camera swings aorund and the picture takes hold. Magic! (not to mention lots of technological lots sweating and tears). Just when I think I'm getting over my Oh obsession, you go sink your artistc claws in my brain agian. Stop it! Semaj

Bryn,

I remember your geese, I'm assuming those were an earlier style that you have refined quite spectacularly. This is another interesting use of the virtual world medium and something that I think non-secondlife artists can explore and understand.

I coat my claws in crack Semaj so you will never get away. Phillip you are absolutely right. Creating the geese (seen in the daughter of gears machinima and I think Immersiva machinima)were what gave me the idea last year. Those geese alone were around 600 prims so I realized I would not be able to do that very often. But with the 45 000 prims that open sim offered its not a problem at all.

Nice post you got here. It would be great to read something more concerning that matter. Thanks for sharing this information.

Crosshatch is indeed a fantastic build and Rezzable is very proud to host it... Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen glitches and Rezzable's involvement with Heritage Key (another OpenSim project) the actual "opening" of this exhibition has not happened yet.

We anticipate switching over to the latest version of OpenSimulator within the next two weeks, at which point we'll be doing a large promotional push to highlight builds by Bryn Oh, Eshi Otawara and Madcow Cosmos- as well as inviting new artists to participate in this series.

These sims will likely be open as for as long as the Rezzable grid itself is open- they are far too impressive to be anything but permanent additions and examples of what can be achieved on OpenSim.

BuilderBot is not currently available (more unforeseen glitches) but rest assured that backups are made every 24 hours, and we'll be sure to assist in getting a copy to Bryn's desktop as soon as possible (email me!).

All of these sims are currently accessible for preview- just please pardon our appearance while we make the final adjustments to make the experience as stable and user-friendly as possible.

Thanks for your patience and your wonderful work!

Indeed, don't worry about your content. We back everything on the grid up quite regularly (and can produce OAR files should they be needed for migration http://justincc.org/blog/category/oars/ ). Rest assured it won't just disappear into the void.

The rezzable grid is currently updating to the latest version of opensim, which will fix a _lot_ of bugs and make it easier for folk to visit your build. It is unfortunate about your account. We'll try and figure out what's wrong with it and ensure you can get back on the grid. You should then be able to use imprudence or meerkat to take copies of the builds.

If all else fails we can get you an OAR which can be loaded locally (in something like OpenSim made Easy http://www.newworldgrid.com/lang/en-us/opensim-made-easy-v02 ) where you can back up at your leisure. :)

Crosshatch isDiablo 3 Items a real amazing construct in addition to Rezzable isD3 Gold quite happy to help sponsor it... Sad to say, on account of many sudden mistakes along with D3 ITEms Rezzable's involvement using Historical past Essential (an additional OpenSim undertaking) the exact "opening" with this exhibitionCheap Guild Wars 2 Gold has never happened nevertheless.
