Television is spectacle and based on the idea that everyone loves a train wreck. Oh yes, we cringe, but we do stare and wonder what it'll show us next.

I can only imagine the surprised faces of couples that meet Offworld, face to face, for the first time. Will LL facilitate this? Now that will be interesting....Moto Kaligawahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03285210009943590038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-944516208447810948.post-12049156288626538592013-02-27T07:40:44.548-05:002013-02-27T07:40:44.548-05:00Thank you, Bryn. Bringing SL relationships to such a programme could be both interesting and dangerous. I use both words carefully, for I am truly concerned.

As someone who knows several couples who have met in SL and who are now together in RL, I am aware that such can happen and bring much happiness. I am sure the opposite is true, as well. There is a range of relationship in SL - just as there is a range of relationship in RL....

Television - like the Internet and written publications - can be both informative and salacious, both helpful and harmful. I have worried for some time that we are teaching people to "scan" information and then to feel "informed" with "understanding." Even well-done programmes run this risk because it is up to each person to handle the information appropriately - or inappropriately.

I could go on about all this, but will spare you my little rant, and instead thank you for your wonderful and insightful post. I appreciate knowing not only that this is happening (the programme), but also that I am not alone in my concerns about misrepresentation, etc. My SL is like my RL - my life, which I enjoy and which both enlightens and entertains me.

Thank you for your many contributions to my experience here, Bryn. I so appreciate your art, your writing and your willingness to forthrightly and with sensitivity address issues of importance.
MireilleMireillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17569771409517733306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-944516208447810948.post-12052937484438628382013-02-26T18:54:02.338-05:002013-02-26T18:54:02.338-05:00Good thoughtful analysis, Bryn.
